How long does it takes to build a brand new home?

It will take a year - one and a half year to finish the whole project, from council application until completion.

How many stages in building a house?

1. Deposit

2. Ground floor slab complete - Footing poured, stumps, piers or columns complete. Internal and external drainage complete. Electrical, gas and plumbing rough in below the floor complete. Floor slab poured.

3. Second floor slab complete - Ground floor brick wall complete. All structural supports installed. Second floor complete.

4. Close up complete - All frames straightened. Windows nailed off. Electrical, gas and plumbing rough in complete. Front and back door complete with locks.

5. Fixings complete - All internal architraves, skirtings, doors, cupboards and detailed joinery installed. Plasterboard finished, sanded and cornices fixed. Exterior downpipes fitted and penetrations complete.

6. Practical completion - When the building works are complete except for minor omissions and defects that do not prevent the building works from being reasonably capable of being used for their usual purpose (i.e.. all interior fit-off items installed including door furniture, robe rails, bathroom accessories, electrical, plumbing and gas-fit-off installed).

How long is the builder insurance?

7 years

How long is the defects period?

After settlement in three months.
